Paul Currivan - Managing Director
Paul is the director of PEC Consulting. Graduating from Dundee University as a business studies major specializing in financials, he went on to obtain an MSC in information studies in Waterford Institute of Technology, in which his research project was taken up for commercial use by a major food processing company.
He went on to a highly successful career in software development and consulting, in which he has worked for such clients as Microsoft, Dresdner Bank, AIB, ESAT Telecom, Ark-Life Insurance and Royal Mail Scotland. His programming specialties include ETL (Extract Transformation Load) and DTS, and all forms of relational database work.
His skills in business analysis have been much in demand both in the software world and in the area of designing pure business solutions. He has lectured in accounting and economics and therefore has an extremely diverse range of practical business knowledge to offer clients.
Alan Peart - Senior Developer
Alan graduated from Trinity College, Dublin with a bachelor's degree in English and Psychology, and continued to do a M.A. in American Literature and Culture in Leeds University. At this point, having some IT experience from his hobbies, he took the opportunity of a position as a billing analyst in a small Leeds-based telecoms company.
As a telecoms billing analyst and, later, billing manager, he acquired much experience with relational database design, reporting and optimization. This and his business experience subsequently led to a role in a software house designing billing software. He was responsible for designing and coding 2 tiers (database and business rules) of the core engine of the system, which had to receive, process and output thousands of records every second. His experience in the telecoms industry allowed him to acquire his skills in T-SQL, DTS and fully relational design.
His recent role in Idesta Solutions Ltd saw him move into the mobile field service industry. Idesta's largest client was running their software on thousands of handheld PCs in the field, and Alan's experience with SQL Server and DTS, as well as efficient reporting from gigantic relational databases, was required. Here he also gained experience as a web developer using a variety of technologies such as ASP.NET, Javascript and Perl.
Paul and Alan had worked together previously, and when it became apparent that his skills and experience were an excellent match for PEC Consulting's growing workload and requirements, he came on board as senior developer and web solutions manager.
